About Me

My Approach

In recognizing that no two people experience the same obstacle in the same way, I take a person-centered integrative approach to working with clients. This means that I strive to provide a safe and confidential space that encourages openness, where I can meet people where they are and understand what they want to work towards. My approach focuses on understanding and attending to all parts of someone’s identity–including (but not limited to) race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religious/spiritual affiliation, income level–to provide support in figuring out how you want to experience and move through the world. I am also a partner in this work, as both my personal and professional practices are centered on the process of understanding the impact and implications of my own cis-hetero whiteness.

My Style

In supporting clients, I draw from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including Neuroscience-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions-Focused Therapy. Whether someone is looking for healing, growth, and/or change, I believe forming an authentic, collaborative, and trusting client/counselor relationship is the cornerstone to therapeutic success, and the first step in helping clients acquire the skills they need to help themselves.

My Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, Maine, and Massachusetts. I have roughly 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of mental health settings and roles--including individual psychotherapy, as a Family Therapist in an intensive outpatient program, as a High School Counselor in the city of Chicago, and as a Residential Counselor in a group-home setting. I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds through a trauma-focused, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+ affirming lens, and am experienced in supporting individuals working through issues such as anxiety, depression, anger issues, chronic stress, ADHD, trauma, relationship & family issues, grief, life transitions, and substance use.

Fun facts

In my free time I am passionate about discovering new music and art, songwriting and recording, spending quality time with my wife and two pups, and clumsily attempting to surf in the icy cold waters of Maine.

Rates for Clinical Services

$150 per 50-55 minute session

I offer a number of sliding scale appointments; please inquire about availability.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash, checks, and debit/credit/ HSA cards.

I am in-network with the following insurance companies:

• Aetna

• Anthem/ BCBS

For out-of-network clients, I can provide a superbill upon request. Please email me for more information regarding insurance reimbursements.
